Its a Wrap

Our team completed their first Alpha course this past weekend! Alpha is designed as an outreach that is open to people from all backgrounds to come and ask questions about faith, Jesus, and church. Our goal in running Alpha was to introduce and develop our team in the process of "doing" a project. We set, as a goal, to get the people who had been coming to our monthly outreach events since last February, attending regularly, inviting others, and finally plugged into small groups, which we plan to call Grow Groups. Because of your support and God's grace, we have exceeded these goals!

Through these past weeks, new people have joined our launch team and we had three people volunteer to host our Grow Groups in their homes! Our launch team has been gathering weekly outside of the main meetings to plan and prepare for Grow Groups.

To celebrate, this we had a "WRAP" party to celebrate the successful run of Alpha and the holidays. Julie organized games for everyone and we prepared small gifts that included a mini-book and some handmade chocolate gingerbread men.

We also had a time for some testimonies. One woman shared that after Julie had encouraged her to stop worrying about things in her life and instead pray, she said, "I don't want to bother God with my problems." Julie told her, "No. Jesus loves you. He is in a relationship with you." After sharing some Bible verses with her, the woman decided to pray. Her family is from Armenia originally, and she always wanted to travel there. She asked the Lord, I want to go on a trip to see Armenia. This woman works as a teacher. Within 3 days the principal called her to his office and asked if she would, at the school's expense, lead a group of students in Spring to Armenia. She then encouraged everyone, "God hears us when we pray and He cares about us!"
