We are learning Arabic!

We continue to see the favor of God manifest in our day to day lives.

One of our 2018 goals to learn Arabic. In November, we began with an Arabic tutor twice a week learning Fusha, or Classical Arabic. Since then, we have learned to read, write, and pronounce all 28 letter characters in the alphabet, the 3 short vowel markings, and 3 pronunciation markings, or diacritics. One of our favorite games while driving through the city is trying to see who can read the signs first.

We have now begun with another tutor 3 times a week, in addition to the first Classical instructor. With this teacher, who is both a dear friend and CLUB1040 Lebanon DreamTeam member, we are learning the spoken Lebanese Arabic. Our confession is that we learn easily, we recognize letters and can make each sound correctly - and we are having what we say!

As for memorization and vocabulary texts, we are using the New Testament. This was our first verse to learn in Arabic.

استطيع كل شيء في المسيح يسوع الذي يقويني

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me

Philippians 4:13
