Take the Challenge

"When I think about the lost, and the great need of the world ...", his voice broke and tears began to flow. This was a successful Pastor of a vibrant growing church. He had been recounting his experience on a short term mission trip two years before our visit.

I believe that many - when they really look at the need of the Gospel in the world, the 4.5 billion people that have never yet heard about Jesus. Some have concocted doctrines to salve their own conscience. Some grow callus to the call. Others say, I just do what I can - but never find an expression in reaching the ends of the earth. Jesus said, "...be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth." (Acts 1:8 NKJV) It is the responsibility of the whole church to be the witness of Jesus everywhere. (Ephesians 3:9-10).

Most agree, or assent to the idea that the church should reach the world - but when it comes to personally 'taking up the cross' (Luke 9:23) to reach the unreached, we faint at the size of the job.

CLUB1040 offers a way for everyone to take part in the GREAT COMMISSION. The reason Julie and I are on the mission field today - and in the perfect will of God for our life today, started by us taking up the 1040 Challenge. Not everyone is supposed to move their family to the mission field, but CLUB1040 provides a way for you to reach the world without leaving home.

The 1040 Challenge is simple: 1,040 people that commit to give $10 - $40 each month to reach the unreached. That may seem small - but in God's kingdom, there are not small parts, but equal parts - all responsible to carry the message, the GOOD NEWS of Jesus. Americans, on average, spend $232 each month on fast food - yet most people want to avoid fast food for healthier lifestyle. The average American spends $64.41 on cable - yet wish they watched less TV. The point is this - one person doesn't have to do it all; but we all must do part. CLUB1040 makes our part easy.

What happens to this money? By combining forces, 1040 Challenge partners enable CLUB1040 to train leaders and church planters in the least reached parts of the world. CLUB1040 also provides free missionary services (to families like us - which means that money given to us goes 100% to keeping us on the field). This, plus GoTeam (short term mission experiences) and apprenticeship programs are mobilizing missionaries to reach the unreached. Finally, CLUB1040 works to inspire the Church in the US and abroad to make the GREAT COMMISSION, the GREAT COMPLETION.

Jesus said, "And this good news of God’s kingdom will be preached throughout the whole world, a testimony to all people and all nations. Then, beloved, the end, the consummation of all things, will come." (Matthew 24:14 The VOICE). If not us, then who? If not now, when?
